How to Create a Facebook Lead Generation Campaign

We know Facebook can be tricky to navigate, which is why we created a step-by-step guide on creating your first Lead Generation campaign. Before you begin, make sure you’ve read our blog with tips on getting started.

Let’s Create a Lead Gen Campaign:

 

Step 1: Ads Manager

From your Facebook Page, select Ad Centre from the top left.

Then select All Ads from the left. Scroll down until you see the Ads Manager hyperlink, and click it.

Step 2: Create Your Campaign

Click the green Create button on the top left of your screen. You are now about to build your campaign. Make sure you are creating a new campaign (this option will be underlined).

From the list of objectives, select Lead Generation.

Scroll down, and give your campaign a name. You will use this name when you want to come back later and find the campaign again. If this is your first time creating an ad on Facebook, you will need set-up your ad account. Click the blue button to set up ad account. If you’ve already run ads through ads manager, skip to step 4 below.

Step 3: Create Ad Account

Follow the prompts and create your ad account. Facebook may have automatically inserted some information, so make sure it is correct.

Click the blue Continue button to continue.

 

Step 4: Ad Set

Make sure Create New Ad Set is underlined. Give your ad set a name (we recommend making it the same name as your campaign).

Select the Facebook page you want to promote, then define your Audience. You can either create a new one or select an existing audience. Once that is done you can select your Placements (where the ad will be shown). You can either let Facebook automatically set them, or you can edit your placements.

 

Next, define your Budget and Schedule. Here you can say how much control you want over the money that will be spent, and when it will be spent.

 

Step 5: Create Your Ad

Name your ad. We recommend giving it a unique name that will enable to remember the post.

Ensure that the right Facebook and/or Instagram accounts are selected.

Build your ad by selecting the Format, Media, and Text.

Scroll down and click create your first form.

Give your form a name.

Select your Form Type (more volume or higher intent). Choose more volume if your goal is to get the form completed by as many users as possible. Selecting higher intent adds a step to your form for users to review and confirm their info before they hit submit. This is a good option if your objective is to seal a deal.

 

Fill out the information for your Intro, Questions, Privacy Policy, and Thank You screen.

  • Intro: Use this section to explain why users should fill out your form. Keep it short and sweet.
  • Questions: There are two types of questions you can choose: Standard questions (ie. gender, job title) and custom questions. You can add up to 15 custom questions.
  • Privacy policy: Facebook lead ads require a link to your company’s privacy policy.
  • Thank you screen: This screen will appear after the form is submitted. You can also include a call-to-action or download link here.

You’ll be able to preview changes as you make them on the right.

Once you are satisfied, click the blue Submit button.

Click the green Confirm button on the bottom right.

 

Woohoo! Your campaign is now under review. Once Facebook approves your campaign, you’ll get a notification saying that it’s up and running.
